Sadhna School: Sadhana of Indian Traditions, Culture and Values

  • Sadhna School Prayer Book is a collection of prayers selected from the Sunday school binder compiled by Dr. Meera Komarraju, of Carbondale IL, and the pooja book 'Bhajans', compiled and published in October 2003 by 'Sadhna Group of Southern Illinois'. Most of the prayers and bhajans in the book are contributed by members of Indian Community in Carbondale, Illinois.

    • Age appropriate stories are taken from the vast sea of books and websites on Indian mythology, as well as simplified children's literature published by Central Chinmaya Mission Trust in Mumbai, India. Parents are also encouraged to volunteer to narrate the appropriate story in the class.

    • Age specific Music and art lectures and projects are incorporated in the regular curriculum. However, our first Art project in November 2007 involved mounting and framing a picture of god/goddess created and colored by each child along with their favorite handwritten prayer for their room.
